When I was in the Army; I had a girl ask me how the Navy got their ships to the Persian Gulf. I blinked and said, “They float?”
She was convinced that the Navy flew their ships out to the location via helicopter and pushed them out the back.
I tried to explain math and the physical size/mass of the ship and then realized I was trying to push a rock up a hill.
She was nicknamed Battleship from there on out....

I tried to explain no country will allow us to fly over them...imagine if we dropped the USS Wisconsin in London? She still was convinced she saw it on TV.

I also used a Monty Python reference in terms of coconuts...but that fell flat...

Then I got a Janes guide and showed a Destroyer weighed 10,000 tons and the Space Shuttle couldn’t move it...still nothing...

Some people man... Had she just never seen a sizeable boat?

My office is next to a shipyard where they perform work on pretty large vessels(commercial fishing boats, Washington State DOT ferries that carry 100+ vehicles etc) and despite having been on these ferries along with my vehicle and hundreds of others it didn’t really hit me just how massive these boats are till seeing them out of the water. Though of course I realized you couldn’t ship them by air...

I can tell haha.. Two tanks on an airplane is IMPRESSIVE , you can put hundreds of tanks(let alone planes...) on a ship, you don’t need a math degree for that haha.
